History of the Internet Timeline
(assisted by Nathan Mart)
Objective: Create an timeline with events you deem important to gain a knowledge of the design software.
When given a partner project, it tends to be hard to decide, between the two of you, what direction you want to take with the project. However, lucky for me, my partner decided that he was going to do all of the research and let me have the design aspect. I did make sure that I was constantly checking in with him, so I knew that he was okay with the direction I was taking. I chose to do something like a webpage loading in a generic server with the loading bar at present time and the events stemming out from there. We wanted an arrow pointing into the future to represent the history did not end with today, but rather extends into an unforeseen future.
All in all, I am proud of the final product we produced. I like the overall appearance of the image and the easy readability simplicity provided. Additionally, I think that the idea itself was intelligent and well executed, not perfect, but nothing really is. If there was one thing I would fix, it would be the lines that stem out from the timeline (internet bar). I don't know why that bugs me so much, but I just couldn't seem to find the right line to put in place.

Black Goose Bistro site
Objective: Learn basic HTML & CSS coding by creating a simple website.
This was the first web page that I had ever done. We were given a packet with instructions as to how to do this project, and our teacher was doing it up on the projector simultaneously. Being who we are, the corner of the room that I am in worked ahead, so we were told to "make it better." We were simply to change aspects of it to prove our understanding of it.
The first image is the original, straight out of the packet, so I don't know that I'm happy/unhappy with anything. The second image is the changed one, so I have an opinion on that one. I like the image of the goose as well as the bold nature of the headers. I also like that I was able to change the font; I just wish I would have chose a better one.

Endangered Species site
Objective: Continue learning HTML & CSS coding through creating a website for an endangered species.
Starting this project off by choosing an endangered animal of our choice, we were to look up the information to properly educate the public on the endangered species. I chose the Rothschild Giraffe for the simple reason that I love giraffes. After looking up all the information and siting it at the bottom (unable to be seen in this picture), it was time to "make it pretty." I chose the color green for the background because they looked like trees, and I chose brown and cream for the text because it matches the colors of the giraffes pelt.
I like the overall look of the webpage. I feel that it is clean and simple and allows the viewer easy access to whatever information they need, and at the same time, they can go right past the information they don't require. I also realize that there should have been some breaks in it so the reader was not constantly going all the way across the monitor. It is a website that looks better on a smaller monitor than a giant one. I also think that I adding margins to the sides may have looked a little cleaner.

Exercises 5-1, 5-2, 5-3
Objective: Follow the packet given to create/fix web files.
In exercise 5-1, you were given the text and told to add basic block elements to it to make a clean page that was easily readable. You were to use headings, paragraphs, or list elements. In exercise 5-2, you were given a marked-up text that you were to fix so that the web page worked and made sense. The errors were to be fixed so it was clean. In exercise 5-3, you were given the text and told to add the html mark-up. The Black Goose Bistro was visited again.
Overall, I don't know that there is much to be proud/not proud of with these projects. They were simply to hone your skills to be able to use them in a later project. I think they look neat, and I properly did each of these tasks. I was able to use the skills learned on the following project, so the reason for the tasks was accomplished.

Menu Site
Objective: Create a simple webpage on a menu of a restaurant you name.
When given the project, the only thing we had to create was the name (the menu items, prices, and such were given to us). It took me a little bit of time (and googling) to figure out what name I wanted to use, but once I found the name I was going to use, the project was rather simple. I chose red for the background because it's the main color in the Chinese flag. I chose the text color based on the logo colors. We were required to use three images, so I used the logo, the flag bullets, and a map at the bottom of the page (unseen here). We also had to convert the USD amount into some other form of currency. I chose the Chinese Juan (again with the China theme).
I like the overall look of this page. I think my favorite part is either the logo, or the China bullets. The bullets were the part of this webpage that took the longest, but I feel that they really add something to the page. I also feel that keeping a common color and font theme throughout the page helped keep it clean and not distracting. I think that some of the spacing is a little off, and if I would have been able to download fonts, then I may have changed the one that I used. However, even with the things I don't like, I feel that I made the best of the resources that I was given.

Favorite Typestyles site
Objective: Create a five page webpage of five of your favorite fonts.
Creating a website that is more than one page is not an easy task, and to be honest, neither is choosing five of your favorite fonts when you have to choose from pre-installed fonts on your school computer. Honestly, my favorite font is not included in this website. We were give a checklist of sorts (in the form of a rubric) of things we were to include in each page. I took these things and put them into an Adobe Illustrator document which I modified for each font. These are the main feature of each page preceded by a little blurb of history on the font and proceeded by the menu you see on the home page.
I think my favorite part of this project is probably the actual font pages because my home page is not the best. My favorite thing on the home site is the heading ("title") of the page. The Adobe illustrations are very well done in my opinion, but then again, they're what I'm more comfortable doing (thanks to my background in Graphics I & Graphics II).

CD Site
Objective: Create a multi-page site of a "real band".
The day before we started this project I went to a concert by for KING & COUNTRY, so it's no wonder that they were on my mind when we were told to pick a band to do our site on. I decided to go with simplicity because they are a band that is for getting their point across without all the gimmicks. We were required to put the lyrics to at least one song on the page, so I (being the overachiever that I am) decided to put the lyrics for all of their songs. I also decided to add pages branching off of the home page where you can find information on both the band and their current tour. The goal was to make the page seem as authentic as possible.
My favorite thing about this site is the overall simplicity of it and the ease it allows the user. The menu at the top and the consistent image allow for a common theme to not give the end user a headache trying to understand the site. If I were to go back and do it again, I would consider adding more space between the images and put a little bit more time in the lyrics page.

Client Site
Objective: Create a site for someone other than yourself.
I was originally going to do another site for a teacher, but we were asked to not do one of that nature. I then went home and asked my mom if she knew anyone I could do the site for. She sent me in the direction of the preschool at my church. I met with the director, and we went over what she would like. As with most websites, simplicity is clearer and seems to be more effective. I wanted to incorporate the "little kid" side through the doodles on the background and the font choice.
My favorite thing about this site is the adorable background and the adorable children I got to use pictures of (signed waivers). I also like the overall flow of the site. It lends itself to easy use. The one thing I would like to change is the "events" tab (not pictured). Something is just off.
Time Taken: 31 hours.

Flash intro
Objective: Follow a packet of instructions to complete the first project in Adobe Flash.
When learning a new software in class, it is typical that we will start off with a basic tutorial of sorts. This was the one we had for flash. We were given the images and how to position them. After following the steps, I successfully completed this.
There's not really any part of this project that is my favorite or least favorite. If I had to say something. I would say that my favorite part is the text and full completion of the project. My least favorite thing is the pixilation that occurred on the images.

Face Banner
Objective: Replicate the steps taken in "flash intro" to create a banner of you.
There wasn't a whole lot that we could do to modify this project. I chose to use my creativity to modify three images completely differently. I also chose to create my own background. Repeating the steps used in the last project was easy, and it helped to easily engrain the steps in your brain.
My favorite part of this project was taking the pictures and modifying them. I liked the overall result of the three contrasting pictures. I think my least favorite part of this project would probably be the text. There's something just off, but no so much that I was about to spend another hour trying to figure it out.

Aqua Zero Tutorial
Objective: Complete a tutorial to understand how to work with graphics in Adobe Flash.
Completing this tutorial proved more frustrating than I initially thought it would be. I tried to stay as close to the original tutorial as possible while improving aspects that I didn't originally like.
There's not much to like or dislike about this project. If I had to pick a favorite part, it would be the text. My least favorite part would probably be the little symbols we had to add in.

Energy Drink Ad
Objective: Replicate the steps taken in the Aqua Zero tutorial to create an energy drink advertisement.
Choosing the name for the energy drink was easy. For some reason, I seemed to like the word "FIERCE". Coming up with the slogan was more difficult, however. Luckily for me though, I have great friends who helped do such. I wanted to stick with the same color scheme of purple, black, and white as well as the font.
My favorite part of this project could be summed up easily, all of it. If I had to pick one thing it would probably be the text at the top and bottom as well as the waves in the background. If I had to pick one thing to fix I wold probably make the can a little bit darker. However, I really do love this overall project.

Movie Trailer
Objective: Follow a packet of tutorial instructions to create a movie trailer.
I chose to follow the packet step by step to complete each task to my best ability. There wasn't a whole that I could do to make it my own, the images and half of the animation was already provided for us. However, by doing so, it made it more difficult to edit what we were originally given.
Being a tutorial, I don't really have a favorite or least favorite part. If I had to pick, I would say that the text is my favorite part, and the background is my least favorite
